There’s no easy way to fit a later 6 speed and keep the ProConTen. The cables just wrap around a boss in the casting on the 5 speed, and a 'box from a non-ProConTen car won't have that.
I've taken the steering column cable and the two chassis brackets from my car so far, and that adds up to 5kg. I need to save some weight somewhere, as the DSY is ~20kg heavier than the ARV, an is 78kg on my bathroom scales.
I can carry an ARV about fairly easily, but a DSY is a struggle to move about the place. If I add the oil cooler then that will add more weight.
I've always preferred the 5 speed over the 6. I guess I've got used to it over the last 7 years. I'll just have to get used to the notchy shift and the fact that I can't do ~150 in 4th. I must admit I haven't yet driven a 6 speed car without a DM flywheel, so maybe I should reserve judgement on the 6 speeder. The longer ratio might come in handy for cruising on long journeys though.

Doh, I thought some early ABY cars didn't have an airbag and so would have the boss for the ProConTen cable. I know the early ABY cars don't have the best of the 6 speeders and the wider first gear can't be fitted in there, but maybe the flexible shaft could be.
I'm going to stop worrying about the gearbox unless it pops and just concentrate on the weight saving of not changing it. It'll help offset the aircon that I'm keeping
. I'm not going to be a member of AOAAC.

I am very pleased with the MAF from the photos.
I am having the driver's seat rebuilt with bigger bolsters so it might be comfortable enough to sleep in if I recline it a little. I could always fold the back seats down and sleep diagonally. Or sleep the other way round a poke my legs between the two front seats. Then I could control the headunit with my toes. I've given this too much thought
.
Another MAF shot.

What size pipe is that?
Because if it's larger than the original MAf how are you planning on getting around MAF scaling of the voltage as this isn't configurable in the ECU.Comment

That will be for Mark to solve, if it's an issue. It doesn't look any bigger to me, but I'll admit I'm not certain. It wouldn't be the first time the MAF has been fabricated into pipework that's a different diameter than the original housing.David

With the power you'll be packing how long do you think it will last?

) and the pro-con bracket on the box was a bolt on plate metal type bracket.
